1¾ cups heavy cream

1¼ cup whole milk

¾ cup sugar

⅛ teaspoon fine sea salt

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 vanilla bean split in half lengthwise
Directions
In a saucepan, pour 1 cup of cream and mix in the sugar and salt. Scrape the vanilla bean seeds into the mixture and add the vanilla pod. Heat the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Take it off the heat and pour in the remaining cream, milk, and vanilla extract (if using). Stir well to combine, then chill the mixture in the refrigerator.
When prepared for churning, take out the vanilla pod, give the mixture a whisk, and pour it into the ice cream maker. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for churning. Once churned to perfection, transfer the freshly made ice cream into an airtight container and store it in the freezer until you're ready to serve.
